Assumptions About Curriculum

The following assumptions about curriculum and curricular development provide a framework for new program development, revisions to existing programs, and the addition and elimination of programs at Bay Path University:

  1. All curricular changes must be approved by the Academic & Student Affairs Cabinet.
  2. New degree programs, the elimination of programs, and changes to existing curricula must be consistent with the mission and vision of the University.
  3. New degree programs, the elimination of programs, and/or changes to existing curricula must respond quickly to market needs to build and/or maintain enrollments and must be consistent with the academic strategic plan for the University.
  4. The final authority for approval of degree programs and curricula resides with the President and the Board of Trustees.
  5. Faculty have the primary responsibility to help design, develop, teach, and assess the approved curricula of the University, and to participate in the creation and implementation of approved course plans, syllabi, and degree requirements.
  6. Faculty and academic administration have the joint responsibility to evaluate the effectiveness of curricula and programs and to assess outcomes.
