All students are expected to respect and value the rights of others and conduct themselves as responsible members of the University community. This expectation applies in all academic, co-curricular, residential, and other University-sponsored activities, whether occurring on campus, off campus, or through virtual or electronic environments. Students are expected to contribute to a community that supports learning, personal growth, and mutual respect.

​Honor Pledge & Code of Conduct

As a Bay Path University student, I will honor myself and my fellow students. In making this commitment, I will act with honesty, integrity, and respect and will take responsibility for my actions.

As a member of the Bay Path University community, guided by the Honor Pledge, each student is expected to act as a responsible community member and demonstrate honesty, integrity, respect, and accountability in interactions with fellow students, faculty, staff, visitors, and the broader community.

The Honor Pledge serves as the foundation of the Student Code of Conduct.

• Establish clear expectations for student behavior. 
• Promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment.
• Support student learning, personal growth, ethical decision-making, and accountability.
• Help students understand the impact of their actions on themselves, others, and the University community. 
• Provide a fair, educational, and equitable process for addressing alleged violations of University policy.

Student Responsibilities & Disclaimer

In an academic community, the acceptance of responsibility for our actions, and the deeper understanding this acceptance cultivates, is paramount to the learning process and to academic and personal success. Each student is responsible to know, observe, abide by, and adhere to the Student Code of Conduct. Students must comply with all policies applicable to conduct in the classroom as well as University-sponsored activities.

The types of prohibited conduct set forth in this Code are not intended to be all-inclusive or to limit the types of inappropriate conduct that may subject a student to sanctions or disciplinary action. Other rules and regulations may also apply. In addition, certain school-, department-, or degree-specific rules, policies, or regulations (including any such rules and policies relating to licensing) may supplement or supersede this Code. These additional rules and policies may be communicated to students in publications and posted notices including, but not limited to, the Academic Catalog, enrollment contracts, the academic portal, and school-specific publications.

This Code does not govern allegations of Sexual Misconduct, Sexual Harassment, or other conduct address through the University’s Title IX Policy and Statement of Non-Discrimination. Those matters will be addressed in accordance with the applicable University policy and procedures found in theTitle IX Policy & Statement of Non-Discrimination.

Bay Path University reserves the right to amend, supplement, or modify this Code as necessary.

Jurisdiction

Students are responsible for complying with  applicable federal, state, and local laws, as well as the Student Conduct Code and other applicable University policies.

The University may review and respond to alleged student misconduct occurring in the following circumstances: 

• On University property 
• At University-sponsored or University-affiliated programs or activities.
• During travel associated with the University.
• Through virtual or electronic environments connected to University activities. 
• Off campus when alleged conduct may adversely affect the safety, operations, educational environment, or legitimate interests of the University community.

The University reserves the right to initiate the student conduct process when it becomes aware of alleged misconduct, including situations in which a student has been arrested, charged with a crime, or engaged in other conduct that may affect the University community. University conduct proceedings are independent of criminal or civil proceedings and may occur regardless of whether criminal or civil action is pending or has been resolved.

Community Expectations

The Student Code of Conduct establishes behavioral expectations that support a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment. The prohibited conduct described below identifies behaviors that are inconsistent with these expectations.

Whenever appropriate, the University seeks to respond to alleged misconduct in ways that promote learning, accountability, personal growth, and opportunities to repair harm. At the same time, the University recognizes that some behaviors require disciplinary action to protect individuals and the University community.

Not every situation requires the same response. Alleged violations are reviewed individually, taking into consideration the nature and severity of the behavior, its impact on individuals and the University community, prior conduct history, acceptance of responsibility, and other relevant circumstances when determining the appropriate resolution.
