Alcohol, Drug, and Smoking Policy
Bay Path University and Cambridge College are alcohol-free, drug-free, and smoking-free campuses. Possession or use of the following substances on campus is prohibited:
- Alcohol
- Cannabis (including edibles, tinctures, or smoking paraphernalia)
- Drugs
- Prescription medications (including controlled substances) without medical authorization
- Cigarettes, chewing tobacco or other tobacco products
- Vape pens or other vaping paraphernalia
Sanctions
Students determined to be in violation of this policy will be issued a sanction. Possible sanctions include but are not limited to:
Possession of alcohol
- First offense – Official University warning and/or assignment of a written letter, reflection, or other paper on an assigned topic.
- Second offense – Official University warning or probation and a meeting with a designated University staff member.
Possession, use, or sale/distribution (including possession with the intent to sell or distribute) of illegal drugs

First offense – Up to and including suspension or, especially for major violations as defined by the University, including selling or providing illegal drugs, dismissal from the University. No tuition or room and board refunds are given in the event of a student’s dismissal for violation of this policy.
Smoking or vaping on campus

Disciplinary action will be taken for violation of this policy, with sanctions in line with the specific circumstances and whether it is a first offense or if there have been prior violations of this policy. Sanctions may include an education-focused assignment and/or a monetary fine.
Bay Path University and Cambridge College will enforce all applicable laws concerning illegal drugs and illegal possession of alcohol. The institution reserves the right to enter students’ residence hall rooms (where applicable) or personal automobiles located on campus property for the purpose of inspection if, in the opinion of University officials, a student’s personal safety or the safety of others in the Community is in jeopardy.
