Health Informatics Concentration, MS
Master of Science in Healthcare Management
This program will examine Health Informatics focusing on electronic health-related data that is generated and stored in health care and public health organizations. This concentration provides timely skills to effectively design, integrate, manage, and grow electronic information systems and applications; collect and analyze data; integrate organizational data with government and research data as well as wearable technologies; and application of systems to patient-centered care through the electronic health record (EHR) and patient portals. The rapidly evolving uses for artificial intelligence (AI) will be examined. Additionally, students will investigate areas such as computer networks, database and systems administration, quality assurance and improvement utilizing data collection, and current issues with cybersecurity, and data warehousing within the universal healthcare networks. Upon completion graduates would be eligible to apply to Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS: http://www.himss.org) in order to take the certifying exam to become a “Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems” (CPHIMS). Students who complete the Health Informatics concentration will also earn a graduate certificate in Health Informatics.
