Digital Information Design & Society Major
Liberal Studies, B.A.
Please note: This program will no longer accept new enrollments after the Fall 2024 semester.
The B.A. in Liberal Studies: Digital Information Design & Society is an interdisciplinary major that offers students the unique opportunity to study humanities issues and topics using digital technologies. The major combines traditional liberal arts skills in critical thinking, analysis, communication, ethical reasoning, and research with a wide swath of technical knowledge to equip students with transferable skills that prepare them for the modern, technologically complex workforce. Students will engage with innovative technologies—including coding and programming, data science, text mining, web development, modeling, mapping, and design thinking—to investigate topics in the humanities and facilitate critical consciousness of contemporary culture. This interdisciplinary specialization combines theory, research, and experiential production to engage students in discussions about enduring issues of the human experience while also gaining practical skills to succeed in a digitally mediated world.
