Student Classification
A student’s classification status is updated at the conclusion of each term based on the number of credits they have earned. Classification status is used for many things including defining a student’s registration period, prerequisites for taking upper-level courses, etc.
The number of credits earned for each classification level are as follows:
First-Year: 26 credits or fewer earned
Sophomore: Between 27 and 56 credits earned
Junior: Between 57 and 86 credits earned
Senior: 87 or more credits earned
Graduate: Enrolled in a graduate-level credential
Non-Matriculated: Enrolled as a non-degree seeking student
Students can review the number of credits they have earned by accessing their degree audit.
